Volunteer Placement in AfricaSTAESA programs provide volunteers with unique and exciting work placements in Community Projects, Small Scale Industries, Private Institutions, Public Institutions, CBOs and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs). This program is great opportunity for students, non-students, professionals and non-professionals to get hands-on-experience, and helps them to see and understand more about African cultures. All program participants live with experienced, lovely host families who are always ready to receive our volunteers into their homes, hence establishing an international relationship. Independent dwellings are available, if desired. Together with you we make a difference in the lives of many people. Internship Placement in AfricaSTAESA's Internship Program provides great opportunities for students, groups, individuals and employees to further their careers by volunteering their services in their area of study/employment and learning new methods while expanding their knowledge and gaining academic credits. STAESA places participants with both private and public institutions and non-governmental organizations. Please select a country of interest:

Academic Placement/Sponsorship and AdoptionSTAESA wants to make sure that everyone, young and old, has education. The academic placement program is organized to help those who want to further their education overseas. We find academic placements for qualified students from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, Tanzania, Togo, Benin and Mauritius who want to study in universities in Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Germany. In addition, STAESA also organizes pre-university programs that prepare students for university life. The program secures sponsorships for further education. STAESA helps the respective students to get in touch with sponsors through our website. STAESA helps donors to ensure the credibility of the students before any remittance starts. We act as an intermediary between the students and the donors. This program also includes child adoption. STAESA has a long list of underprivileged children in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, Tanzania, Togo, Benin and Mauritius who really need help. Back to TopMini-Adventure, Language And Culture ImmersionSTAESA's Mini-Adventure, Language and Cultural Immersion program promotes and enhances language studies and intercultural exchange aimed at developing long-term international relations and understanding, and exposing our program participants to the tourist and culture sites. STAESA offices organize home stays for groups and individuals who wish to learn and build upon their French language, English language, or any local languages while being totally immersed in the related African culture. Also included in the program is volunteer work in an orphanage. STAESA's Language and Culture Immersion Program can be incorporated into other programs or university study programs to put your area of studies skills to work and to earn you academic credit. This program includes: language lessons (French or local language lesson), host family program, traditional drumming and dancing, 4 days tour including one night in a typical African village where the program participants are summoned around a locally made lantern to listen to tales, and volunteering for the rest of your stay while practicing the language at your work place, with the people in the community, and with your host family. Participants can volunteer in a variety of areas including: schools, orphanages, law firms, media houses, hospitals, and conservation. This program is currently operating in South Africa, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia and Senegal.The minimum program duration is two weeks, and the maximum is three weeks. Back to TopTeach In AfricaThe governments of all the African countries in which we are currently operating have declared war against child illiteracy. The governments are enforcing and championing the right of every child to have a basic education. STAESA's Teach in Africa program supports and enhances the campaign to eradicate child illiteracy in Africa. We know you share in this vision, hence you want to join us. STAESA's Teach in Africa program offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone who wants to contribute to educational development in Africa. This program is organized in collaboration with the communities and schools in Africa, thus ensuring the 100% support of the communities for the volunteers and interns. The program is developed in such a way that you can teach any kind of subjects you are interested in. The program also gives the volunteers and interns in-depth information related to educational matters in the communities by meeting with the school authorities, political leader, and chiefs and elders of the the community. The most common subjects are: basic conversional English and Math in English speaking countries, and basic conversional French, basic conversional French and Math in French speaking countries. You don't have to be a professional teacher to participate. You will have an opportunity to teach together with a trained teacher in a class of 20 to 45 children. After a short while, you will be left alone to teach. The only requirements for this program are that you must be 18 or above, self-motivated, open-minded, flexible, and have a sense of humor. The children's ages range from 3 years to 5 years in day care, 6 years to 12 years in primary school, 13 years to 16 years in junior secondary school (in some countries like Ghana), 17 years to 22 years in secondary school or 17 years to 33 years in vocational school. This program will not only make you a teacher but it will also integrate you into the community, making it possible for you to gain great insight into the African culture. Please select a country of interest: Coming soon to: Medical PlacementSTAESA, in conjunction with both local and foreign health workers, is working closely with the communities and health institutions in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Mali and Uganda. STAESA welcomes heath workers including, but not limited to, doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, X-ray technicians, dispensary technicians, pharmacists, medical students, public health workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and social workers. Together with local and foreign volunteers, interns, and medical electives we are making a difference in the lives of the people in Africa. Program participants first work with highly qualified staff. Once they become experienced enough, they will be left to work on their own. Our aim for this program is to save lives and improve the quality of life where access to medical professional and medical suppliers is badly needed. STAESA's Medical Project is not only greatly helping the lives of the disadvantaged in communities in Africa, but it is also giving volunteers experience with tropical diseases and exposure to African cultures, hence establishing international relations. This program also works with HIV/AIDS. STAESA helps program participants to direct their services, medical supplies, and cash donations to where it is really needed. The program includes: free accommodation, food, water and internal travels. Furthermore, medical doctors are given a small allowance in local currencies. Most of the hospitals we are working with have separate departments ranging from children's wards to HIV/AIDS wards. You will have the opportunity to work as a volunteer in all the hospital wards. Health workers that need more medical knowledge to prepare them for further studies in the medical field, including public heath, are welcome. Back to TopAcademic Support ServicesSTAESA, in collaboration with both government and private institutions, offers excellent logistical support to groups, colleges, universities and individuals that are interested in conducting their own studies and research programs in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, or Benin. STAESA can arrange transportation, accommodation -- be it host family or individual dwelling -- food, and classroom space. There is also an option to use local faculty members. This program enables institutions to provide study and research for their students at a very convenient and affordable cost, while still controlling and maintaining the students' studies. In addition, STAESA offers a full range of social and cultural activities for students. Interesting and unique internal travel, seminars, conferences, and workshops will introduce participants to African culture and studies. You can join this program at any time. Back to TopTheme Study TourSTAESA arranges field study tours for both local and foreign students, groups, and organizations that are interested in specific areas of research or studies in Africa. The program is intended to engage the participants in experiential education to expand upon what they have learned in their normal classes and internships. University students can earn academic credit in this program. Areas of study include psychology, agriculture, economics, family life/education, anthropology, arts and culture, history, law, tropical medicine, forestry, marketing, education, water and sanitation, and the environment, among others. The program includes a three-day volunteer or internship program in a school, orphanage, law firm, media house, hospital, clinic, conservation or environmental agency, forestry, or other location. Program participants will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with other local folks including university students, research organization and STAESA volunteers in the host country. There is an option to visit some schools and research organizations. Food, accommodation -- be it host family or individual accomodation -- and tours are provided. Back to TopRural Community Support (Donations)STAESA offers great humanitarian and developmental support to communities in Africa. STAESA is currently building shelters, providing water in the form of hand dug well, classroom block, small grants (fund raising activities) to local women, child education sponsorship, building libraries and latrines in communities in South Africa, Ghana and Togo. No previous experience is necessary. The program allows every donor to visit the project sites, hence making it possible to have a direct contact with the people. You can also be proud to see how fantastic your contribution is changing lives in Africa. Instead of simply reading a long report on paper, you can see physical evidence in person. Back to TopVisit and ExcursionAs the "Travel and Exposure" in our name indicates, we offer very interesting and affordable tour programs through our partner offices in Africa. Excursions can be arranged for individuals, groups and schools to visit South Africa, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Senegal, Gambia, Mali, Swaziland, and Botswana. These excursions vary in length from one day to two or three weeks and can include whichever locations and countries a group desires. Student groups can also choose to visit schools in the host country and to interact with local students. Please note that this is a tour program and it does not include volunteer work.
