Medical Placement

In conjunction with both local and foreign health workers, STAESA is working closely with the communities and health institutions in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Mali and Uganda. STAESA welcomes heath workers including, but not limited to, doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, X-ray technicians, dispensary technicians, pharmacists, medical students, public health workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and social workers. Together with local and foreign volunteers, interns, and medical workers we make a difference in the lives of the people in Africa.

Program participants work with highly qualified staff. Once the participants have enough experienced, they will be left to work on their own. Our aim for this program is to save lives and improve the quality of life where it is difficult to get access to medical professionals and suppliers. STAESA's Medical Project is not only greatly improving the lives of the disadvantaged in communities in Africa, but it is also giving volunteers experience with tropical diseases and exposure to African cultures, hence establishing international relations.

This program also works with HIV/AIDS. STAESA helps program participants to direct their services, medical supplies, and cash donations to where it is really needed. Most of the hospitals we are working with have separate departments ranging from children's wards to HIV/AIDS wards. You will have the opportunity to work as a volunteer in all the hospital wards. Health workers that need more medical knowledge to prepare them for further studies in the medical field, including public heath, are welcome. For professional medical doctors, the program includes free accommodation, food, water and internal travels. Furthermore, medical doctors are given a small allowance in local currencies. Volunteers with limited experience will still have to pay the volunteer fee.
