Malawi is bordered to the north and northeast by Tanzania, to the south, east, and southwest by Mozambique, and to the west with Zambia. Malawi is proud of its Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa. The Northern Region in Malawi is mountainous and features the rolling Nyika Plateu, valleys and the thickly forested slopes of the Viphya Plateau. The Central Region is mainly the country's agricultural area with fine upland scenery. Malawi also boasts of conservation and wildlife that attracts many visitors. Malawians are extremely friendly towards travelers. Nature lovers will adore the national parks and game reserves, as well as mountain hiking and plateau trekking.
